The Client
Compass Coffee is a successful boutique coffee roaster and retailer in the DC area. According to their website, “Compass Coffee is dedicated to making real good coffee. Nothing fancy, nothing too crazy or hard to pronounce, just really good. Everything we do is built around this very simple proposition: from our espresso drinks and our signature blends to the layout and ambiance of the cafe on 7th Street in the historic Shaw neighborhood.”
With several coffee shops already opened and more coming, Compass Coffee turned to GTM Artisan Metal for custom metal fabrication. This collaboration enabled Compass Coffee to ensure that the various metal components used in their modern coffee shop decor were aligned to their upscale and growing brand.
Helping to Ensure the Ambience Matches the Brand
Looking to create an industrial look of metal and wood for their locations and dissatisfied with the commercially available furnishings on the market, Compass Coffee decided to design and fabricate their own custom furnishings for unique, modern coffee shop designs.
Initially, Compass Coffee contacted Germantown Tool to produce two low volume laser cut parts to relieve backlog in their fabrication shop. Through repeat orders and new stores, the relationship has grown. 12 – 15 parts are now produced by Germantown Tool (and growing). Germantown Tool has become a modern coffee shop decor solution for Compass Coffee, while avoiding the time consuming, high cost flame cutting of metal components.
